Provision of Synthetic Inertia Support for Converter-Dominated Weak Grids

Insufficient inertia is the paramount challenge in power system transition toward $ 100\%$ converter-based generation. A promising solution to this issue utilizing distributed virtual (DVI) concept, i.e., releasing energy stored dc-link capacitors of converters employed grid following a frequency disturbance. Nevertheless, method has two drawbacks: 1$ ) voltage not reverted its reference value after mismatch between generation and demand, 2$ it yields instability local mode associated with control when converter operates weak grids. To overcome aforesaid problems, conventional DVI loop modified so as affect outer regulator transient. Moreover, an efficient compensator presented article which eliminates adverse impact technique on stability connections. The efficacy proposed scheme depicted by simulations MATLAB. results illustrate that improvement 23\%$ evident rate change contingency collated case staying nullified.
